Por Qué Sean Connery Se Arrepintió De Hacer De James Bond
Few franchises have produced films regularly since the 1960s. Even fewer have broken box office records. And there's only one starring a character so affable that men immediately emulate him by donning a tuxedo. When it comes to these criteria, no one does it better than… "Bond, James Bond." Sean Connery was the original "official" James Bond, bringing the character from the pages of Ian Fleming's novels to the big screen. His first film was 1962's Dr. No, a production that cost $1 million and earned nearly $60 million worldwide (the equivalent of $509 million in 2020). This role brought Connery fame, fortune, and an enduring association with the iconic spy. But Connery—who died at age 90 in October 2020—is one of many actors who have come to regret playing the role that made them famous. This is why Sean Connery regretted playing James Bond. Connery was lucky to land the role of Bond. The late Richard Maibaum, known for his adaptations of the Bond novels, said, "[Fleming] thought David Niven would have made a great James Bond." Roger Moore was also considered for the role from the start. Connery's bad-boy looks won him the part, but the success of Dr. No turned the whole thing into a headache. Connery expressed his dislike for Bond films even as he continued to make them. In 1964, when Goldfinger, his third Bond film, was in production, Connery told an interviewer that Bond is just "a boring, prosaic English policeman" once you take away all the "exotic touches." In November 1965, Connery admitted to a reporter that he was "fed up with everything Bond." Connery said he shouldn't criticize Bond, telling the New York Times in a November 1964 interview that he would "always be grateful" for the character, but his attitude changed over the years. While filming You Only Live Twice in 1967, Connery clashed with producer Albert Broccoli, or "Cubby," who had been instrumental in getting Sean the role. He was also hounded by paparazzi during filming and felt his salary was too low. You Only Live Twice was supposed to be Connery's final appearance as Bond, but he returned in Diamonds Are Forever in 1971. Speaking to The Guardian in 1971, Connery expressed his resentment toward the studio for wasting his time. Read the full article (in English): https://www.looper.com/217067/the-rea...
