A study commissioned by the PFA and The FA found that former pros were between two and five times more likely to die from degenerative brain diseases. Five of the starting 11 in England’s 1966 World Cup winning side (the greatest achievement in England’s international history) have been diagnosed with a disease connected to brain injury.
