Morgan Bay Wild Coast South Africa

Morgan Bay is a little under 100km past East London, close to the mouth of the Kei River, which marks the southern limit of the Wild Coast. A really pleasant town with friendly people, awesome views and a spectacular hike along the cliffs on the edge of the village. A short ferry ride across the Kei River to real rural South Africa where cows have right of way and life is synched to a much slower pace. Our accommodation was at the Mitford Hotel, it’s a little dated, but comfortable enough and clean. There’s also a restaurant and pub, and it’s in an ideal spot right next to the beach. There's also some excellent caravan and camping facilities, the Morgan Bay camp site is right on the river mouth and has shady camp sites with electric points and clean ablutions. But there are plenty of self catering options in town, ranging from really really basic, to very up-market. It's a town with loads of character and a slow paced way of life, one of my favourite small towns in this part of the world so far.
