Last month, the Supreme Court upheld the original ruling sentencing Mr. Yong, a man in his 40s indicted on charges of attempted blackmail, to two years in prison, by dismissing his appeal. Ms. Yang, a woman in her 20s previously indicted on charges including extortion, was sentenced to four years in prison in the second trial last April. As she did not appeal, the sentence was finalized. Ms. Yang was indicted on charges of extorting 300 million won from Son Heung-min by threatening to expose his pregnancy in June 2024.
