Beachy Head Launched Into Service At The Bluebell Railway

The Bluebell Railway proudly welcomes Britain's Newest Steam Locomotive, H2 Marsh Atlantic 32424 'Beachy Head' to its locomotive fleet. Thanks to the hard work and efforts of both the Atlantic House Team, alongside the staff and volunteers from the railway's locomotive department, we are privileged to see this once-lost part of British railway history brought back to life. The footage taken is a mixture of the engine's official launch day on August 18th (with speeches, blessing and handover ceremony taking place at Sheffield Park) and its first public running day on August 23rd. Also captured is a series of shots from the loco's training runs between Sheffield Park & Horsted Keynes on the 18th, as well as 'Beachy Head's first trips using the railway's Pullman dining train rake- both from the 18th and 23rd respectively. Our thanks must extend to the MHR Filming Unit and 'The Southerner' for allowing their footage to be used to make this video possible. All scenes taken from the lineside have been obtained using Bluebell Railway PTS and with permission from the operations team at the railway.
