Mariana Anghel is one of the emblematic voices of Romanian folk music, originally from Hunedoara County, the Hațeg Country and Orăștiei Land. With an artistic career spanning over 45 years, she is known for interpreting and promoting authentic folklore, both in the country and abroad. Debut and affirmation 1982 – Debut on Romanian Television, in the show “Tezaur Folcloric” produced by Marioara Murărescu. 1982 – Obtains the “Cântec Nou în Mehedinți” Festival Trophy, Drobeta Turnu Severin. 1983 – Wins the first stage of the “Floarea din grădină” contest (TVR). 1984 – 1st place in the country at the “Cântarea României” National Festival. 1987 – “Garden Flower” Trophy and 1st Place at the Columns of Independence, presented by Ioan Simion Pop. 1996 – “Ethnos” Foundation Award for collecting and valorizing folklore from the Strei Valley. 2001 – Included in the Dictionary of Hunedoara Personalities for research and valorization of folklore.
