Hollywood Keeps Dumbing Down Disturbing Books
Andy Serkis has "blessed" us with his interpretation of Animal Farm, the classic George Orwell novel that is famously about Stalin's rise to power in Communist Soviet Union. This new film takes the dark novel and ruins it. And adds Seth Rogan. But this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Earlier this year, Emerald Fenell ruined Wuthering Heights, taking the dark novel and making it superficial. What do these two adaptations tell us about how Hollywood keeps trying and failing to adapt dark novels?
