Between June 1936 and June 1937, for the first time, a government supported by the Communist Party, the SFIO (French Section of the Workers' International), and the Radicals was formed under the leadership of Léon Blum. This year in power, marked by the introduction of numerous rights for workers, has become legendary in the collective memory of the French left and has left a lasting mark on the country's political history. It is, moreover, within this direct lineage that left-wing parties positioned themselves in the aftermath of the 2024 dissolution of Parliament, giving birth in just a few days to the "New Popular Front." What was the true impact of Léon Blum's short-lived government on the daily lives of the French? What reasons made this alliance possible, an alliance that was anything but a given? And how is the legacy of this period being used to create a new political dynamic?
