Welcome back to World By Sakshi! ❤️ In this episode of my Udaipur travel series, I explored one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the City of Lakes – Fateh Sagar Lake. If you’re planning a trip to Udaipur, this place deserves a spot at the top of your itinerary. Fateh Sagar Lake is one of the most famous freshwater artificial lakes in Udaipur. The lake was originally constructed during the reign of Maharana Jai Singh, who also founded the city of Jaipur. Later, after the dam was rebuilt and restored by Maharana Fateh Singh, the lake was named Fateh Sagar Lake in his honour. The weather here was absolutely amazing! Because of the huge freshwater lake, the temperature felt much cooler and the natural breeze made the entire experience incredibly refreshing. No wonder people call Udaipur the City of Lakes. One of the best parts of my visit was renting an electric scooter (E-Scooty). We rented it for around ₹200 for 30 minutes and explored the beautiful road surrounding Fateh Sagar Lake. Riding beside the lake with the cool breeze hitting your face honestly feels like Udaipur’s own version of Marine Drive. It was such a relaxing and unforgettable experience. Around the lake, you’ll also find lots of fun activities. There are camel rides, rental bikes, scooters and plenty of places to simply sit back and enjoy the stunning lake views. During my visit, I also noticed the newly introduced camel island activity, which looked really interesting. Fateh Sagar Lake has three beautiful islands, and the most famous among them is Nehru Garden, which looks absolutely stunning from the boat. The lake itself stretches for several kilometres and offers breathtaking views from every corner. Next, we booked our boating tickets from the official counter. The ticket price usually ranges from ₹350 to ₹450, depending on the type of boat you choose. Before boarding, everyone is provided with a life jacket for safety, and once enough passengers are seated, the boat begins its journey across the beautiful lake. The boating experience was honestly one of the highlights of my Udaipur trip. Watching the sparkling blue water, feeling the cool wind and admiring the surrounding Aravalli Hills made every moment magical. During the ride, I spotted beautiful birds like Bagula (egrets/herons) and several other water birds enjoying their natural habitat. Nature lovers are definitely going to love this experience. While boating, I also learned more about the history of the lake and the famous Nehru Garden Island. The peaceful surroundings, crystal-clear freshwater and scenic beauty make this one of the best boating experiences in Rajasthan. Did you know that Fateh Sagar Lake is home to many freshwater fish species? That’s one of the reasons you’ll also find the famous Udaipur Aquarium (Under the Sun Aquarium) located near the lake. If you’re travelling with family or kids, it’s another attraction worth exploring. Towards the end of my visit, I also admired the beautiful palace-style architecture visible around the lake, including the stunning Moti Magri area and the nearby palaces, which make the entire landscape look even more royal. Overall, Fateh Sagar Lake is much more than just a sightseeing spot. Whether you want to enjoy boating, ride an e-scooty, try a camel ride, relax by the lake, capture beautiful photographs or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, this place has something for everyone.
