My 1978 Fuji S10-S 12 speed road bike was only $40
Near the end of last year, I purchased this green 21" 1978 Fuji S10-S road bike for only $40. It would have been $20 but the seller transported it from Petworth to North Potomac. It's a double butted hi-tensile steel frame with Ukai alloy rims and 12 speeds. Unlike other bikes it doesn't quite have friction nor indexed shifters but rather a hybrid called Suntour Power shifters, which let you shift in very fine (sub-gear) indexed increments. It's very reliable, with both front and rear hubs containing sealed bearings, but I still went ahead and overhauled the bottom bracket last night. I took it on a test ride today (also to drop off a small package) and it rode nicely if a bit rough over sidewalks and broken pavement. I plan to add a rack and take it on longer tours through the area.
