Opening Address | Shikshagraha Utsav | InvokED 5.0
What one small, scary act of agency can we each take daily to earn the right to look into the eyes of India's children? Sanjay Purohit's opening address traced Shikshagraha's journey—from touching Nalanda's ancient walls and a fearless principal's "do one thing everyday that scares you" mantra, to micro-improvements practiced repeatedly, birthing a national movement uniting EdTech, NGOs, corporates, schools, and government in one room. Drawing from Donella Meadows' wisdom on listening over being right, Urmila Didi's courage in collectives, and children's trusting eyes in Gaya, he urged stubborn excellence like Satyagraha—compounding 1.2M+ micro-improvements via Shiksha Chaupals, Shikshagraha Commons resources, and daily personal commitments to transform public education amid carbon, code, and conflict challenges. SPEAKERS: Sanjay Purohit — CEO & Chief-curator, Centre for Exponential Change(C4EC) ABOUT InvokED: InvokED is our annual global dialogue on education leadership — a space where Samaaj (civil society), Sarkaar (government), Bazaar (markets), and Sanchar (media) come together to drive systemic change in public education. In five editions, InvokED has explored how education leadership is key to sustainable improvements in the education ecosystem and how diverse actors can enable collective action toward education equity. InvokED 5.0 was held on 6–7 February 2026 in Bengaluru, bringing together 800+ participants for two days of dialogue, bright spots showcases, and collaborative action across India and the Global South.
