MAJEEDIYYA SCHOOL MILITARY BAND GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION - FLASH MOB AND ANNIVERSARY PARADE ON 01/07/2015 Context: Majeediyya School Military Band was first founded as Majeediyya School Band on the 1st of July 1965. 27 Students were chosen from the prefects of Majeediyya to take part in music theory classes held by the first Band Master of Majeediyya School Band, Lieutenant Semidon. One year later, on 27th February 1966, the first set of band instruments arrived in Majeediyya school. These instruments consist of, Bugle, Fife and Drums: The 1st School band of Maldives was a ”Fifes and Drum” Band 60 years later today, Majeediyya School Fifes and Drums band has evolved into Majeediyya School Military Band, taking inspiration from HM Royal Marines Band of the UK. This video shows the first ever flash-mob performance in Maldives, along with the 50th Anniversary parade conducted by then present band batch and Past Bandsmen, in celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Majeediyya School Military Band. The flash-mob gathered in Majeedhi Magu, near Artificial Beach. Then they rout marched from there to Majeediyya School.
