With the goal of promoting more sustainable waste management and strengthening the community's social and cultural development, the Municipality of Chaitén and Naviera Austral signed a collaboration and cooperation agreement that will advance joint efforts to reduce the carbon footprint, promote recycling, and facilitate the transportation of people for recreational, cultural, and sports activities. The agreement seeks to establish a public-private partnership focused on the direct benefit of the commune's residents… Naviera Austral will facilitate two free monthly municipal truck transfers for waste transport to and from the city of Puerto Montt, concretely supporting the community's recycling and carbon footprint reduction policy. The agreement also seeks to strengthen community access and participation in cultural, recreational, and sports activities… To strengthen the promotion of Chaitén as a tourist destination, spaces on vessels will be allocated to promote local offerings and the services of Naviera Austral's network of partners linked to community tourism development.
