This 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance is nearing the end of its warranty – the perfect time for an independent end-of-warranty check at AMPTech in Leipzig. Tesla doesn't have a traditional mandatory inspection schedule like many other manufacturers. This is a major advantage, as it reduces the number of service appointments. However, it can also mean that the vehicle hasn't been independently inspected for years, or at all. Together with Frank, we examine the most important aspects of a Tesla: the chassis, brakes, tires, underbody, battery compartment, bodywork, and typical issues. And indeed, several things were found on this Model Y that demonstrate why such a pre-warranty check can be beneficial. In this video, I visit Marco, an old friend of mine who works on some truly unique projects. One of them: a 79 kWh Tesla Model 3 battery as a home energy storage system. We take a look at how it's set up, discuss whether such a conversion even makes sense, and explore the technical aspects involved.
