There are still a few things to do before we can consider this Phase 0 complete, which began in February 2022 and was scheduled to finish in February 2027, although it seems to be ahead of schedule. Therefore, the new layout of the ground floor access roads remains to be finished. This will allow vehicles to circulate in the area differently than they did in 2022. Previously, taxis entered from Calle de la Hiedra, accessed the station from the east, and traveled west alongside the main concourse, towards the lobby of the Hotel Chamartín. Soon they will travel in the opposite direction, from west to east, also passing through the southern area of ​​the main concourse, although there will be some changes. In the area that used to house the outdoor shops, there will now be a new road, although it's not clear to me which direction the cars will travel or which vehicles will be allowed there. There are parking spaces for people with reduced mobility, but that doesn't tell me much. In the taxi rank area, there are five lanes in total, plus parking spaces. I'm not sure where they'll pick up passengers; we'll find out soon. There are no vertical signs yet, and I haven't seen many horizontal ones either, although there are some. I imagine that will be a crucial step before anything opens, although there's something else missing: they have to finish paving the old section. That is, the entire area between the new pavement and the section leading to Agustín de Foxá. In that area, by the way, you can make a U-turn, but it's so poorly marked and lit that it's hard to see. I think we'll see everything open sometime this summer, possibly this month, although I don't want to make any predictions. Work continues on platform 13, although it doesn't seem like they have much left to do. This will finally mean the removal of the green fence that has been dividing the platform in two for some time. From there, we'll have a different perspective of the main concourse expansion. And that's about it. Construction on the new parking garage doesn't seem to be starting anytime soon, which I had hoped for. Meanwhile, they're working on the old parking garage, on the ground floor, finishing the paving of the southern area, which will then be painted. It will look much better than it did before, with that new access on the east side, and its barriers already in operation. We're also waiting for the opening of the new left-luggage building, which for now looks like a general beverage storage area. Happy Monday!
