July 2026 Meeting
Presenters: Kira Nuviae, Grace Sigmon, John Gerwin Our speakers will present highlights of two projects they have conducted recently to document arthropod diversity at two sites in the Uwharries. For 10 years, they have conducted bird work at one private property site in southern Randolph County. 2 years, Kira, John and others began a concerted effort to document many arthropods; while Grace began a pollinator survey among several native plant gardens at the NC Zoo. With so many species of insects, spiders, snails and such, much remains unknown about the distribution of these invertebrates, especially in the Uwharries region of central NC, where little biological inventory work has been done.
