Autismus: Wenn das Gehirn anders tickt | Quarks

When Johann Steven discovered at the age of 48 that he probably had autism, he saw his entire life with new eyes. Suddenly, he had an explanation for his childhood loneliness and his problems at work. All his life, Johann Steven had problems with his fellow human beings. He felt uncomfortable, rubbed people the wrong way, and was convinced that he was the only one who was completely normal. In 2006, the Quarks show "Autism – When Thinking Makes You Lonely" opened his eyes: At the age of 48, he realized that something was "wrong" not with others, but with himself: He had autism. Suddenly, he had an explanation for many of his problems. He wrote a book and sent it to Quarks. The editors contacted him and met a man with a very unusual life story. To protect his privacy, he appeared on the show not under his real name, but under the pseudonym he also used in his book.
