St Paul Sunday Morning Ronald Smith Plays Schubert, Chopin, Alkan (circa Summer 1986)

Here's a rare broadcast from around Summer 1986 of St. Paul Sunday Morning hosted by Bill McGlaughlin featuring British pianist Ronald Smith playing a live in-studio recital of Franz Schubert (Wanderer Fantasy), Frederic Chopin (Op. 25/1, 6, 7, 10) and Charles Alkan (world premiere of Three Etudes [Scherzi], Op. 16). For fans of Charles Alkan's music (which is the reason I recorded the show), Ronald Smith was one of the first pioneers to resurrect his music publicly in the late 20th century, and premiered many of his works for the first time since they were composed in the 1800's. His recording of the Alkan Concerto, also on YouTube, is still my go-to version to this day. This broadcast played after I first heard Alkan played live by pianist Martin Jones on June 14, 1986 in New Orleans (he played Le festin d'Esope...which brought the house down). I recorded this on my boom box back in high school, remastered it to Chrome cassette tape some time in the 90's, then converted it to digital format (WAV) in late 2016, and finally to FLAC and MP3. Quality is still good, though I think it's pitched a little sharp and there is some tape rumble in the background, though not too distracting. Nevertheless I hope you enjoy it!
