Fuerteventura Airport, Canary Islands, (El Mattoral Airport) - I am meeting an inbound Ryan Air flight from the East Midlands to find out about the new rules at the airport and on on board for flying during Covid-19. Also interviewing some passengers to find out about what really happens. To reassure you when you next fly in or out of Fuerteventura airport. There is tons of information about masks, hand luggage, what happens at the airport and on the flight and temperature checks etc. SEE BELOW FOR LINKS TO OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION from IATA web site and Public Health #BasicsWithBev ❤️PLEASE SUBSCRIBE HERE FOR LATEST VIDEOS https://bit.ly/3fxf9UP 🔴FOR MORE PASSENGER INTERVIEWS - • Fuerteventura Airport - Latest - Extra Pas... LATEST INFO: 🔴New rules – airports & flights Latest news: From 4 July, Spain is exempt from the FCO advice against all non-essential international travel. This is based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks. 🔴UK travellers no longer need to self-isolate on return from Spain 🔴FAQ Flights and Airports during Covid-19 🔴QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Will I have to wear a mask? Yes – most airports insist on masks inside the airport and at all times on the plane – except when eating or drinking. Q: Who has to wear a mask? A: All airport staff, airline staff and passengers - everyone over the age of 11 in England and over the age of 5 in Scotland. Note: You will be required to remove your mask for passport control. Q: What about air circulation on the plane? A: Most modern aircraft (including those used by BA, Jet2, Tui, EasyJet and Ryanair) are fitted with HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters that remove 99.9 per cent of viruses and micro-bacteria. Q: How long before my flight should I arrive at the airport? A: Allow longer than normal - to allow for socially distanced queues and more checks. Heathrow and Gatwick airports advise arriving two hours before a flight to the Canary Islands and other short haul destinations. There are currently roadworks around Manchester airport – so allow extra time for that as well. Q: Can my family come to the airport with me to see me off? A: Only passengers are allowed inside the airport – so no. Q: How does social distancing work at the airport? A: At the airport you will be asked to maintain social distancing. Seating in departure lounges will be blocked off to ensure a 2m gap. Q: What about on the plane? A: Few airlines are leaving the middle seat free – and certainly not the budget carriers. This is partly because the average seat width is just 50cm (so not far enough to maintain a 2m distance) and also because the airline needs approx. 60% capacity to break even. Q: What testing is there at the airport? A: Most UK airports have temperature checks and there are also temperature checks on arrival in Fuerteventura. Only if your temperature is higher than normal, will you be asked to undertake further testing. Q: How is the airport different from normal? A: Most airports have reduced capacity – e.g.only 2 of Heathrow’s 4 terminals are open. Many shops & restaurants are closed, but you can buy food and drink to take on the plane with you (e.g. from Boots). At Fuerteventura however there is only currently a vending machine. All staff will be wearing masks, there will be lots of messages about social distancing and lots of hand sanitising options. Q: What about check-in? A: Although you can still check-in at the airport, the use of Apps and mobile boarding are recommended to minimise personal contact. Q: What about hand baggage? A: It is advised to use baggage drop rather than take cabin bags on board to avoid unnecessary contact – but this is not mandatory. NOTE: Ryan Air is the exception - They are encouraging passengers to travel only with cabin bags, claiming that hold luggage passes through up to 8 baggage handlers on one journey. Q: What in-flight services can I expect on the plane? A: Some are offering drinks - some food & drinks - some nothing - Check with your airline as this info is changing all the time! Q: What about using the bathroom on the flight? A: To avoid queues in the aisle, if you wish to use the bathroom, you need to press the ‘call’ button and you will be signalled when to get up.
