Cleo Diára

🎙 This fortnight, TEATRA welcomes actress Cleo Diára, recently returned from the Berlin Film Festival, where she participated in the ‘Shooting Stars’ program – a European initiative that annually recognizes 10 talented actors. With a film, a series, and a play under her belt, Cleo speaks to us about the importance of never stopping working to acquire new skills: “I feel that we are high-performance athletes and we always have to be training. We need to work to improve ourselves.” Throughout the conversation, she tells us about her friendship with actor and director Mário Coelho, which began when they were studying theater; the importance of Rogério de Carvalho and Mónica Calle in her career, two people who believed in her potential and encouraged her to explore from within; and also about her professional relationship with director Pedro Cabeleira, from the same generation at the Higher School of Theater and Cinema, with whom she makes her film debut. The actress, who began studying Finance and Accounting and, during a period of demotivation, started her professional artistic training, now has international recognition, including the Best Actress award in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in the film ‘The Laughter and the Knife’. The episode is now available to listen to on digital platforms.
