Sueños por la nueva Carretera Central: megaobra costará 20 mil millones para unir Lima a la Oroya

A Panorama team toured the hills of Huarochirí exclusively, accompanied by French engineers and surveyors, where the new Central Highway will be built. This highway will connect Lima and La Oroya in two and a half hours, a project considered the most ambitious in Peru's history. The 185-kilometer mountain highway will undoubtedly improve traffic flow between the Peruvian coast and the central region, not only reducing travel time but also offering greater safety to passengers and truckers using this route. Currently, experts are conducting drilling and surveys with specialized equipment on surfaces at altitudes exceeding 3,000 meters to identify the types of rock present and prepare a detailed report before beginning construction of tunnels and overpasses. IT IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN 2031 As a reminder, the Central Highway project will be carried out under a government-to-government agreement with France. If all deadlines and conditions are met as stipulated in the contract, this modern highway would become operational in 2031.
