{411} What is MOV, Metal-Oxide Varistor, VDR, TVS
in this video {411} What is MOV, Metal Oxide Varistor, VDR, TVS, i discussed What is MOV, Metal Oxide Varistor, VDR, TVS Metal oxide varistors, also known as MOVs is a voltage dependent resistor. They are voltage dependent, its non-ohmic behavior provides transient suppression. MOVs are composed primarily of zinc oxide with small additions of other metal oxides. The structure of the body consists of a matrix of conductive zinc oxide grains separated by grain boundaries. These boundaries are responsible for blocking conduction at low voltages and are the source of the nonlinear electrical conduction at higher voltages. The use of a metallic oxide within their construction means that MOV’s are extremely effective in absorbing short term voltage transients and have higher energy handling capabilities. As with the normal varistor, the metal oxide varistor starts conduction at a specific voltage and stops conduction when the voltage falls below a threshold voltage. it is also known as transient voltage surge suppressor, it is used to protect any circuit from over voltage spikes #mov #vdr #varistor what is mov, metal oxide varistor, varistor, thyrestor, voltage dependent resistor, vdr, tvs, transient voltage suppressor diode, transient voltage suppressor, transient voltage surge suppressor, haseeb electronics, what is varistor, how mov works, how varistor works, high voltage protection, what is metal oxide varistor, surge protector, varistor diode, what is vdr, surge protection, metal oxide, metal oxide varistor working principle, metal oxide varistor surge protection 00:00 what is varistor mov, vdr or metal oxide varistor 01:22 vdr mov varistor symbol 02:47 structure of mov, vdr
