I Gave Up… Then Caught My PB Smallmouth

In this kayak bass fishing video, I spent the day chasing a new personal best smallmouth bass in Washington, targeting giant smallmouth on an Alabama rig. My original plan was to throw an Alabama rig all day after seeing what this lake was capable of, but after hours of getting no bites, no follows, and no sign that fish even cared, I started to lose confidence. I switched to a few different baits trying to make something happen, including a blade bait, jig, drop shot, spinnerbait, and jerkbait. After finally catching a small smallmouth on the jerkbait, I made one last adjustment and picked up an underspin for a final Hail Mary. That decision led to the biggest smallmouth bass of my life — a 6.34 lb giant. This was one of the craziest bass fishing moments I’ve ever had from the kayak, and a day I won’t forget.
