George Lloyd: Symphony No. 3 in F (1933)
BBC Philharmonic conducted by / dirigida por George Lloyd. I. Allegro con fuoco (0:00) II. Lento (7:56) III. Finale: Energico (15:15) George Lloyd belongs to those British composers who, in spite of the growing avant-gardist trends, decided to remain in a romantic vein in spite all odds. Considered as one of the fathers of British neo-romanticism, Lloyd lived a hectic life both as composer/conductor. His Third Symphony belongs to a trilogy of early symphonies which are according to Lloyd “anti-romantic”. During this period, Lloyd did not favor concert-long works (as opposed to his later works) and wrote short symphonies in the guise of contemporary modernist composers.
