As you might have observed in our previous stock market podcast, traders used to begin their trading journey with intraday or delivery trading and then gradually move into options trading. But nowadays, even though there's a lot of risk in options trading, new traders are starting their trading journey directly with options trading. Today in our Big Bull series, we have Manish Kumar, a 24-year-old trader from Banga, a small city near Jalandhar in Punjab. He initiated his trading journey by diving into options trading. He began his trading journey after watching a recommended video on YouTube. He made the same mistakes as many naive options traders do. When he suffered losses in a positions, instead of squaring off it, he used to carry forward loss-making positions in a hope to recover losses. And we all know, this never really happens. Does it? Experienced traders always recommend that one should not take overnight positions in option buying. Also as per Manish, it is very hard to do option buying when you are psychologically unstable due to family or some other reason. He makes an interesting point that you must be mentally stable to trade well. If you are not good in your head, stay away from stock market. However, Stock Market business in itself is something that is difficult to carry forward when you do not have a plan B. In fact, at the onset, Stock Market must be your plan B while you rely mostly on your main source of income i.e. your plan A. Like many Punjabi youths Manish did IELTS and went to Canada where he did jobs as a security guard and warehouse employee which were not enough money to survive there. So he started his own E-commerce business which operated in the USA. He made a good fortune out of it and after 2 years came back to India and started the same business here.
