Growing Cactus Cuttings

Growing cactus cuttings is a great way to propagate plants ! Planting cactus cuttings is much faster than growing cactus from seed . When growing cactus from seed it is best to keep your cactus seedling in a pot for a few years before planting it into the ground . Cactus cuttings can be planted directly into the ground or the cactus can be rooted into a pot . In this video we will take a look at some cactus cuttings that I have recently planted and compare their size to some similar San Pedro Cactus that I planted a year ago . I'll give some tips on growing cactus from cutting and show the progress of growth on some younger cactus cuttings. You and I will take a tour of my cactus farm and see some cool cactus like Barrel cactus , cactus apples and lots of San Pedro Cactus ! Some of the different Trichocereus stands we will see together are ones I don't often show . Cactus stands in the shade grow a bit more slender but they still do thrive . Not all cactus require full sun as we can see these old cactus stands have grown for many years in the full shade . We will take a look at some huge old Barrel cactus stands in the ground and compare their size and age to some seed grown barrel cactus in pots. it is important not to plant cactus into the ground too young as this may stunt their growth and often cactus are able to grow faster for the first year when planted in a pot with rich soil and ample root space. Looking at some Tbm cactus stands is always fun and we can compare the longform version to the short form and also see the progression of age in these cactus stands. Seeing Tbm-b cactus that was planted recently and some Tbm cacti stands that are several years old along with some fully mature huge monstrose cacti that are decades old !
