Hello , Today I am showing you how to make Udupi style Fish Pulimunchi. You can use any fish for the recipe, for today we have used Baby shark fish(Tate/Mori). It is an easy fish curry prepared without coconut. It tastes good with Rice and dosa. Ingredients: For Masala : Mustard seeds(Rai): 1/4 tsp Coriander seeds: 2-3tbsp Cumin seeds(jeera) : 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds(Methi seed): 1/4 tsp 10-12 Byadgi or Kashmiri chillies Peppercorns :4-5 Carrom seed(Ajwain): 1/4tsp Garlic : 6-7 cloves Tamarind Water for grinding For Gravy: Fish: 1/2 kg Garlic: Ginger: Green chillies :3 Tomatoes: 1 Onion :2 small Turmeric: 1/4 tsp Method of Preparation: Heat a pan , add the Byadgi chillies and roast it . when the chillies are 80% roasted ,lower the flame and start adding spices. Add peppercorns, mustard seeds, coriander seed, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and roast it. Once it’s done , take a mixie jar add tamarind , garlic , Turmeric powder along with the roasted ingredients and blend it into a paste. Heat another pan, add oil and heat it on a moderate flame. Add mustard seeds to the oil and let it splutter. Then add cumin seed,chopped ginger , green chillies and garlic and mix well. Add onion and fry it becomes translucent .add turmeric powder and salt , give it a good mix. Add chopped tomatoes to it . Add grinded paste to it and mix well . Put some salt and some water to get gravy consistency and let it cook. Add the fish to it , lightly stir it and keep it for 2-3 minutes. Add coriander to it.
