Hello everyone, this is Taka-sim. This time, I'm making a city introduction/walking video of me strolling around the downtown area of ​​Yatomi City, Aichi Prefecture. I visited places such as AEON Town Yatomi, National Route 1, Maegasu Town, Wing Plaza Paddy, and Sakogi Station on the Kintetsu Nagoya Line, starting from Yatomi Station on the JR Kansai Main Line and Meitetsu Bisai Line. Yatomi City is located in western Aichi Prefecture, and offers easy access to Nagoya City and Yokkaichi City in Mie Prefecture. During the Showa era, the Showa Woolen Spinning Yatomi Factory opened in the Gomei district, and the textile industry boomed during the postwar "gachaman boom." During this period, many young women from all over the country flocked to work at the factory, significantly impacting the local economy and demographics. The current AEON Town Yatomi is built on the site of this former factory. Additionally, Yatomi City has been a thriving goldfish farming center for about 150 years. Thanks to its ideal geographical location as a waterside town downstream of the Kiso River, the city has become one of Japan's leading goldfish-producing areas. Currently, approximately 50 million goldfish are produced in approximately 100 hectares of farm ponds, and you can learn about the history of goldfish farming at the Yatomi City History and Folklore Museum.
