1,200-Mile Silverado EV Towing Test: 3 Years After My Rivian R1S

We towed our travel trailer to Hilton Head, South Carolina with the Silverado EV RST Max Range, almost exactly three years after making a similar EV towing road trip with our Rivian R1S. In this video, I compare what has changed with real-world EV towing over the last three years, including charging access, range planning, towing efficiency, pull-through chargers, Tesla Superchargers, Mercedes chargers, Electrify America, and how much stress is involved when towing a camper with an electric truck. The Silverado EV has a much larger battery and feels more naturally suited to towing than the Rivian R1S, but EV towing still comes with real challenges. Efficiency dropped as low as 0.7 miles per kWh at times, charging while towing still requires planning, and weather, road conditions, and charger layout all matter.
