I personally think what they did was completely against what Jay stood for in earlier seasons and what he thought of going back. They tried to make it make sense, but there’s just so much that had happened in the opposite direction that it’s hard to believe and accept. Despite his wife and his whole career (with a bright future) trying to hold him down in chicago, he decides to abandon all to go find who he once was ( the person Jay himself said multiple times during last seasons, he didn’t like and now is over that part of himself).
