Bettie Serveert - Beginning To See The Light
Around 1997 we did some ‘tribute’ shows of the Velvet Underground in the Netherlands. Our last show on Nov 27th ’97 at the Paradiso in our hometown Amsterdam was recorded and later released in ’98 as a limited edition cd called 'Bettie Serveert plays VENUS IN FURS and other Velvet Underground songs'. After this limited edition was sold out, it was never re-released. We made some Super 8 movies, which were projected during our shows, just like the Velvet Underground used to do. This is a compilation of those Super 8 movies with the live-version of 'Beginning To See The Light’. On Nov 27th ’19, exactly 22 years after that last Paradiso show, the entire remastered cd including 4 extra tracks will be available as a digital-only release on all streaming media sites. Digital release on 27 Nov 2019 by Palomine Records Distribution by PIAS Carol van Dyk: guitar & lead vocal Peter Visser: guitar & backing vocal Herman Bunskoeke: bass guitar & backing vocal Berend Dubbe: drums & backing vocal Lyrics & music by Lou Reed/ Metal Machine Music / Oakfield Avenue Music Recorded at the Paradiso in Amsterdam on 27 Nov 1997. Remastered by Darius van Helfteren at Amsterdam Mastering. Filmed by Betties Serveert in 1997.
