Fernando Pereira (FA): En Uruguay “hay un modelo de nación y dos proyectos de país”

The Broad Front is entering the final days before the national elections by focusing on direct, one-on-one outreach and mobilizing its supporters. Last weekend, the left-wing coalition held what it described as "the largest neighborhood campaign in its history." The activity consisted of a door-to-door campaign with the goal of reaching "one million Uruguayans." A caravan is planned for next weekend in Montevideo. Meanwhile, its presidential candidate, Yamandú Orsi, is intensifying his rhetoric against the government. For example, in several speeches he maintained that these have been “five years of wasted time, with more inequality, hopelessness, overwhelmed public services, and growing insecurity.” And, at the same time, the Colorado Party candidate, Andrés Ojeda, accuses Orsi of orchestrating a smear campaign against him through videos circulating on social media. But, on the other hand, Orsi's campaign team is concerned about the emergence in Uruguay of Spanish media personality Javier Negre, who is affiliated with the Vox party in his country and directs La Derecha Diario in Argentina. Negre, among other things, alleges that the former mayor of Canelones wants to establish Kirchnerism in Uruguay. We spoke with the president of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereira, on En Perspectiva to review this phase of the campaign.
