They Weren’t Fortune-Tellers: The Truth About Biblical Prophets and How to Understand Them
Many people believe that prophets in the Bible were simply men who predicted the future. But biblical prophets were not fortune-tellers or magicians. They were messengers raised up by God to bring direction, correction, warning, and hope at crucial moments in history. In this video, we begin a new series exploring the Prophets of the Bible. Before studying the narrative prophets, the Major Prophets, the Minor Prophets, and the prophets of the New Testament, we need to answer one essential question: What was a prophet, really? You will discover why God raised up prophets, why some of them left behind books while others did not, what the terms “Major Prophets” and “Minor Prophets” actually mean, and why reading the prophetic books in the order they appear in the Bible can be confusing without understanding their historical context. We will also see that the prophetic voice did not begin with Isaiah or Jeremiah. It appears much earlier in Scripture through people such as Abraham, Moses, Miriam, Deborah, and Samuel. In this video, you will learn: • What a biblical prophet truly was • Why prophets were more than predictors of future events • What prophets were called to do • Why Elijah and Elisha do not have books bearing their names • The difference between narrative, Major, Minor, and New Testament prophets • Why historical context is essential for understanding biblical prophecy • How the prophets pointed people back to God and toward His plan of redemption This video provides the foundational map you need to better understand the prophets, their calling, their messages, and the different ways God spoke to His people from the Old Testament into the New Testament. The prophets remind us that God does not remain silent when His people lose their way. He speaks to correct, warn, guide, comfort, and restore. But every generation must decide what it will do when God speaks. 🙏 Write this prayer in the comments: “Lord, teach me to listen to Your voice before it is too late.” In the next video, we will begin exploring the prophets who appear within the biblical narrative—the voices God raised up before and alongside the great prophetic books. 🔔 Subscribe to Bible Revelations and join us as we continue uncovering the people, stories, and powerful truths found in God’s Word: https://bit.ly/SubscribeBibleRevelations 👉Share this video with someone who wants to understand the Bible more deeply and learn how God spoke through His prophets. May God bless you and give you a heart that is always ready to listen. 🙏📖 #bible #BiblicalProphets #ProphetsOfTheBible #WhatIsAProphet #BibleProphets #MajorProphets #MinorProphets #NarrativeProphets #OldTestament #NewTestament #BiblicalProphecy #BibleExplained #BibleStudy #BibleRevelations
