Coming up, the story of my favorite bottled lightning song of the 80s. From Big Country, who named their song Big Country after their band… Sort of. They were a unique mixture of modern rock and Scottish folk. As rookies, they caught a break and had a chance to tour with Alice Cooper, but it turned out to be the wrong match because they got bottles of urine thrown at them… but they persevered and their debut record would become a smash, selling over 2 million units, and it produced one of the most anthemic hits ever. Before Big Country became a hit, the lead singer, Stuart Adamson, didn’t think it was any good. It took some serious persuasion from their legendary producer, who loved it. In fact, the first time he heard it, he cried. But was this band a one-hit wonder, or was there more to it… and whatever happened to the inspired singer?
