Lieutenant's Fiancé Flashes Badge and Gets Arrested for Drunk Driving (and then He Shows Up)
On February 8, 2025, Leesburg Police Officer McClain stopped a 39-year-old woman for speeding. Off camera, the woman allegedly flashes a Lake County Sheriff's badge. Because Officer McClain could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle, he directed the woman to exit her vehicle. She stated that she wanted to make a phone call first. Officer McClain then ordered her out of the vehicle under threat of physical force. She repeatedly demanded that she be allowed to call her fiancé, a Lake County Sheriff's Lieutenant. She then directed her Apple Watch to call her fiancé. She was placed under arrest for DUI and was taken to the back of Officer McClain's patrol car. Then, the woman's fiancé shows up in a Sheriff's vehicle. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
