An evocative journey into the world of the peasant, a pivotal figure in medieval society and economy. Who were the peasants of the Middle Ages? How did they live? Where did they live and how did they dress? These are just some of the questions Dario Angelibusi's new Medievaldoc attempts to answer, to better portray a key figure of the Middle Ages, yet one rarely garnered the attention he deserved from contemporary sources. The video uses specialized reenactors and spectacular ground and drone footage, captured in the fields and woods of Valsassina and at the splendid Piona Abbey, in the province of Lecco. This authentic masterpiece of religious architecture houses a rare cycle of the months, crucial to reconstructing the life of the peasant in the central centuries of the Middle Ages.
