新社会人にさっそくきた「壁」新人バスガイド奮闘記・後編【キャスターがゆく！】

"The Caster Goes!", a program where Tochigi TV casters personally report on various topics in Tochigi Prefecture, features caster Makoto Iijima focusing on new employees who embarked on a new chapter this spring. This is the second part of his report following three bus guides who joined Kanto Jidosha, the prefecture's largest bus company. The three new bus guides are Sakura Roppongi, Miyu Anjima, and Sayaka Tsukahara. Bus guides use textbooks passed down through generations to provide information to passengers. Bus guides must memorize a vast amount of material. On this day, the three girls memorized the textbook and were tested by their instructor, Junko Mihashi, each time. ...Of the three, Roppongi falls behind the other two. In fact, Roppongi is terrible at memorization. Anjima and Tsukahara manage to memorize, albeit haltingly. Roppongi struggles to even reach the test stage. (Senior bus guide mentoring her, Junko Mihashi) "I think Ms. Roppongi is struggling on her own. She's wondering how to memorize things; the other two are progressing quickly. She forgets things after two or three days. But I'm doing this because I want her to learn how to study." (Sakura Roppongi) "I'm the type who writes things down. Right now, I'm really hitting a wall." On May 16th, her first full-fledged tour with passengers. That day arrived surprisingly quickly. Ms. Roppongi was in charge. She was already at the office by 5 AM. Senior guide Yuka Shinozaki was with her, but she handled the guiding portion on her own. The destination was Chiba, and there were 35 tour passengers. She managed to win over the passengers with her name, "Roppongi," but after that, she stumbled over her words and looked at her notes. She became awkward. (Sakura Roppongi) "I ran out of things to say." That's when it happened. Roppongi-san began singing the song "Shojoji no Tanuki Bayashi." The train car erupted in applause. (Tour participants) "The interaction was a little hesitant, but you could tell he really valued each word." "I felt his determination, and it reminded me of my own early days as a working adult." Roppongi-san performed his duties to the best of his ability without a moment's rest. (Roppongi's final remarks) "I will cherish today's memories and strive to improve my guiding work going forward. Please take care of yourselves." (Roppongi Sakura) "Today I truly realized that there are people of all generations on board. I also realized how difficult it is to choose the right words, and I will strive to improve my guiding work." (Tsukahara Soka) "During my internship, I couldn't even greet people in front of them, so I think it's difficult." *Apparently, she didn't shed tears on her first day of work. (Anjima Miyu) "I realized my own shortcomings... I want to become a bus guide who can provide the best service possible by maintaining my curiosity and ability to keep up." They will gain a lot of experience from now on so that they can provide guiding that satisfies both the customers and themselves.
