Wallfahrts church in St Wolfgang, Austria

A pilgrimage church (German: Wallfahrtskirche) is a church to which pilgrimages are regularly made, or a church along a pilgrimage route, like the Way of St. James, that is visited by pilgrims. Intense radiation is present in the central section of the church. The age of the cult site is unknown—it is likely pre-Christian. The church dates back at least to the 12th century. A chapel was built over the stone shrine in 1713. The Wolfgang Fountain is located next to the church, though it is not associated with any cultic traditions.
