Budget cinema camera rig for 2022 — Panasonic EVA1

The Panasonic EVA1 is a camera I had initially written off when it was first released in 2017. At the time is was pretty far outside my budget and I was used to working exclusively with mirrorless cameras like my GH4 and GH5. Fast forward to September 2021 and I found myself in the market for a new A camera. The EVA1 is the perfect budget cinema/production camera for me in 2022. The camera is a jack of all trades and a master of many. It has a glorious 14 stops of DR with awesome highlight rolloff. It shoots stunning C4Kp30 VLog 10bit 4:2:2 and 60p 10bit 4:2:0. It has some pretty decent overcrank modes, too. The body is super lightweight and compact while still packing in ND filters, SDI and HDMI, XLR ports, an EF mount, and dedicated controls all over. Battery life is fantastic. And, with a Blackmagic Video Assist 12G, it's a BRAW shooting cinema beast. All-in-all it's a winner. I've built my EVA1 up into a shoulder/tripod rig that best suits my needs. The accessories I've added here make it a powerhouse camera across a wide range of uses. 00:00 Why the EVA1? 01:13 Rig: VCT Baseplate 02:13 Rig: Top plate 02:55 Rig: Top handle 03:45 Rig: Zacuto EVA1 Z-finder 05:08 Rig: Handgrip and arm 06:11 Rig: Kondor Blue quick release rosette 07:21 Rig: Accsoon CineEye 2s Pro 08:36 Rig: Core SWX Nano battery 09:15 Blackmagic Video Assist 12G BRAW recorder 10:35 Tilta Nucleus Nano 11:35 Tilta Nucleus M handgrip 12:25 Why use a wireless follow focus? 14:40 REVIEW: the good 15:51 REVIEW: the bad 19:11 Final thoughts
