Sunday Morning Railfanning On The CSX Florida "S Line" - 6/14/26
I had some free time on Sunday, June 14th, so I decided to spend the morning catching some trains on the CSX Wildwood Subdivision (“S line”). Also checked out some spots I’ve never shot at before! Here’s what I got… 0:00 Starting off around in Bushnell, Florida, I arrived to a clear signal for a southbound CSX freight around dawn… Later, after sunrise, the train showed up! It was CSXT M441, daily mixed freight from Waycross, GA bound for Yeoman Yard in Tampa, FL. M441 normally runs down the S line between 12 and 5am… This one was running through Bushnell shortly after 7AM! The lead locomotive, CSXT #987, had a pretty neat Nathan “K5HLB” horn! This 10,000+ foot train had some mid-train power on this particular run too! 2:57 Next up, I moved up towards Wildwood, but upon arrival had to turn back south, as extra local job U753 was beginning to pull south out of Wildwood Yard. So, I set up at the small town of Coleman, FL. Normally, this train would run as L753 (Monday-Friday), working customers between Ocala and Zephyrhills. L753 (and U753 when it runs) are based from Wildwood, FL. Looked like the work in store for this U753 included headed to the landfill around the Bushnell/Sumterville area. This landfill recently (I believe just a couple of months before this outing on 6/14) got a rail spur installed, and receives containers of garbage. Also, based off the sizable cut of rock hoppers, U753 would work rock customers around the Coleman area. 4:06 Next up, CSXT M452, daily northbound manifest traffic from Miami, FL to Waycross, GA made its presence known in Bushnell! Due to U753 holding on the main line, M452 took the Bushnell siding to pass by! TYPICALLY M452 has a big cut of empty autoracks from Palm Center, FL on the rear… none of that today! 5:55 After catching that earlier U753 at Coleman, I caught them again at Bushnell running their engines around the consist, which was in the Bushnell siding. U753 had to of course let that M452 pass by first! 7:09 After catching U753 messing around at the south end of Bushnell Siding, I moved to a random crossing north of town where they would be picking up speed northward while hauling cars. GP40-2 #6091 would be leading as well! I believe this location is TECHNICALLY in the community of Summerville (according to Google Maps) ***The crossing was the CR532 road crossing. 9:07 Next up, I moved to the CR114 road crossing in the area of Oxford, FL and, for the second time, caught M452 wasting no time flying north at a good 50+ mph. M452 was much shorter than they were in Bushnell… about half of 452’s train was dropped at Wildwood Yard. Seemed like traffic REALLY tapered off after M452… and with me getting tired, I decided to call it a day!
