Delivered across Queensland by Caravanning Queensland and the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Van Safe offers free caravan weight and safety inspections at select locations throughout the year. Your vehicle and caravan are weighed both coupled and uncoupled, giving you an accurate picture of your setup. Inspectors also conduct a visual safety check, looking at lights, number plates, mirrors, bolts, shackles and general compliance. The inspections are voluntary and educational, with no fines issued. Once the boxes are ticked and the rig is ready to roll, we head west over Cunningham’s Gap into the beautiful Southern Downs. We stop in the charming country town of Allora before settling in at Gordon Country, a stunning 4000-acre working cattle property turned camping destination in the Goomburra Valley. With creekside camps, cabins, campfires and wide open space beneath the Main Range National Park, Gordon Country is the perfect reward after ensuring your van is road-ready.
