They wrote the song for Blue Oyster Cult, but it was turned down as it was also by .38 special. Adams didn't think it was right for him either, but when producer Bob Clearmountain asked Adams if he had another song they could use on Reckless, Bryan played him the demo and they turned the song into a hit. It was the first single from the album. Was a huge commercial success, peaking at number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the top 10 in several other countries, including Canada, Australia, and the UK. The song's catchy melody, anthemic chorus, and memorable guitar riff helped it become one of Bryan Adams' most popular and enduring hits. Recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver, Canada. The recording process reportedly involved a lot of experimentation with different guitar sounds, as Adams and his band were trying to create a more rock-oriented sound for the album. The bassline for this song is simple yet effective, with a steady rhythm and some well-placed fills that add to the overall groove of the song.
