On Wednesday, June 24, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck northern Venezuela, west of the capital, Caracas. This quake was the main one in a double seismic event, occurring 39 seconds after another of magnitude 7.2, according to the USGS. According to a report by Delcy Rodríguez, who has been leading Venezuela since the capture of Nicolás Maduro, the death toll from the devastating earthquakes has risen to at least 164, with 971 injured.
