O Direito à Literatura – Ocupação Antonio Candido (2018)

Celso Lafer, professor emeritus at the University of São Paulo (USP), was a student of Antonio Candido. In this video, he discusses the text "The Right to Literature," an essay in which Candido discusses how literature is indispensable for human development, the need to promote access to it, and combat censorship. Published in 1988, the text guided the curation of the Antonio Candido Occupation. In 2018, on his 100th birthday, literary critic, sociologist, and professor Antonio Candido is honored at the 40th edition of the Occupation program, curated by Itaú Cultural and Laura Escorel, Candido's granddaughter and organizer of his collection.
