You MISSED THE POINT of the Canon EOS RP

Just thinking out loud about my EOS RP. I’ve since sold it and picked up an R6, but I think I’ll always miss the RP. The camera had a really fun spirit, small and simple, yet very flexibly able to vlog or grab portraits in the studio. Bonus point: the price spread between even a cheap new crop sensor and this full frame camera is actually smaller than the price spread between an F1.8 and an F1.2 lens. I hadn’t done that math yet at the time of recording this video, but this is huge and game changing as far as attaining specific looks (particularly attractive to portrait photographers). It used to be that you’d start with a crop sensor and a 50mm F1.8 lens then likely save up for a 50mm F1.2 some day to get “more” from your camera. However, a 50mm F1.8 lens on a full frame looks like a 35mm F1.2 would on a crop sensor, and an 85mm F1.8 on a full frame looks like a 50mm F1.2 would on a crop sensor. It is cheaper to get an RP with either a 50mm F1.8 (RF mount for $200) or 85mm F1.8 (EF is $410, plus $99 adapter) than it is to match those looks with a crop sensor and a 35mm F1.2 (Rokinon makes one for EF at $1,000) or a 50mm F1.2 (EF $1,300)
