2026 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL POV Test Drive & Review! The days of Mitsubishi making fun vehicles are long gone, and now their American lineup is limited to 3 SUVs, including this week’s hero - the Outlander. The Outlander shares many components with a Nissan Rouge and uses a FWD architecture, which features a strut front suspension and a multilink setup in the rear, combined with passive dampers. It's also the cheapest 3-row SUV currently on the market. New for 2026 is a mild hybrid 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder. It makes 174 hp & 206 lb/ft - less power but more torque compared to the 2.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder that it replaces. Power goes down via a CVT, and AWD is a $1,800 option and I highly recommend it - one of the best AWD systems in the segment - great traction in all conditions. Another engine option is a 297 hp PHEV, which uses a 2.4L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder and offers 45 miles of all-electric range. Pricing starts at around $30,000, goes up to $50,000, but with rebates offered my the manufacturers and dealers, you’re looking at least 6-7k off.
