Strong and Courageous (Chazaq & Amats)

Inspired by Joshua 1:9 and the original Hebrew meaning behind God’s command to Joshua. “Be strong” comes from Chazaq (חָזַק) — to stand firm, hold fast, and remain steadfast. “Be courageous” comes from Amats (אָמַץ) — to move forward with determination even when fear is present. Biblical courage is not the absence of fear. It is obedience in the presence of God.
