Built on a completely new platform, it features fully independent front and rear suspension. Instead of springs, it uses air springs, allowing the vehicle to adjust ground clearance from 19 to 34 cm. The enormous body, over five meters long and over two meters wide, is mounted on a robust frame. Two engine options are available. The base model is a 3.0-liter gasoline V6 producing 354 hp. The engine is the same as the one found in the Tank 500. However, the settings for the Tank 700 are unique. This makes acceleration much more comfortable than in the 500 model. The engine is paired with a classic hydromechanical transmission. All-wheel drive is permanent, and both interwheel differentials are equipped with locking mechanisms. A power steering system is also available, which locks the inside rear wheel. The low-range gear ratio is 2.64. The front anti-roll bar can be disconnected to complete the package. The top-of-the-line version is a serial hybrid. However, unlike the similar Tank 500, the hybrid Tank 700 retains its large V6 engine. Power output is an impressive 517 hp. With this setup, the three-ton SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under seven seconds. However, the base model also has little to complain about in terms of performance. The hybrid also differs from the regular Tank 700 externally. It features a sophisticated aerodynamic body kit with additional roof-mounted lighting. And 22-inch wheels. The regular gasoline-powered Tank 700 "only" sports 20-inch wheels. This is actually a plus, as off-road tires are available for this size, allowing for full off-road exploitation of the SUV's capabilities.
