Episode 34: Unable to take the Taouz track to Merzouga, we headed back up to the N17 to reach Rissani. We stopped at the souk to do some shopping, and after passing through Merzouga, we tried to drive directly down to Taouz. We left the main road and took a track for our midday picnic. Unfortunately, we couldn't eat outside because the wind had picked up, whipping up sand that was getting everywhere. We decided to turn back and, after reaching the lake, settled down near the large dune in a small camp. The next day, we enjoyed a road trip with a local guide, experiencing local folklore, visiting an old lead mine, having a snack with the nomads, and going on safari in the dunes before returning to camp where a sandstorm raged all night. The next day, we set off towards Tineghir for a tour of the Todra and Dades Gorges.
