During a routine maintenance test on the lathe, I detected a taper of 0.04 mm on a flat turning surface with a radius of 65 mm. This taper, for small machines with an age of around thirty years, I think is physiological and certainly negligible. But we hobbyists are a bit obsessive to say the least, so after careful consideration and planning the work to be done, I got to work, achieving an excellent result.
